Chile's RES (datos.gob.cl) + SII nómina lists 7,250 companies in mining and quarrying (ISIC section B), 7,181 of them active, which is 0.2% of all Chilean records in the LatSouth build (data as of 2026-08-03). By region, Metropolitana de Santiago leads with 2,530 (35% of the section), followed by Coquimbo (1,061) and Atacama (778). A small section by count with high-value accounts: mine operators, quarries, sand and gravel pits, oil and gas producers and the service companies around them. Division 08 (quarrying) usually has the most rows; 09 (support services) is where drilling and engineering contractors register. Chile and Peru are the copper economies; Brazil, Argentina and Colombia add iron ore, lithium, oil and coal. In Chile, 100% of these rows carry an ISIC class; size is known for 32%; the registry publishes no website or e-mail; 595 were registered in the 12 months before the extraction. An economic activity is registered for about half of Chilean RUTs, so this section undercounts companies that never registered one with the SII.
