What we will and will not sell, under seven data-protection laws.
Company data only, from public registries, with the people removed at build time. This page sets out the rule, the stance under each country's law, the licence of our files and the attribution block for every source.
The company-only rule
LatSouth sells company data and nothing else. That is a rule applied at build time, not a filter a buyer can switch off:
- Natural persons, individual entrepreneurs and natural-person legal forms are removed before any row is written (Brazil 213-5 and the 4xx group; Mexico personas físicas; Peru RUC 10/15/17; Ecuador PERSONA NATURAL; Colombia organización 01). Chile and Argentina publish legal persons only.
- Partner, shareholder, director and legal-representative tables are never downloaded. No CPF, DNI, cédula, RFC of a person, personal mobile, home address, LinkedIn profile or photo exists anywhere in the pipeline.
- Legal forms whose name must carry the owner's name are masked as *** in every public product; the build aborts if a masked row leaks a name, website or e-mail domain.
- Contact fields, where a registry publishes them (Brazil, Mexico, part of Colombia), are the company's filed business channel and ship only in that country's files and actor; the LATAM unified set carries the corporate e-mail domain only. Free-mail addresses are never turned into a website, and Brazil's accountant-contact flag lets you drop third-party contacts.
- No scraping of websites, social networks or directories: the only inputs are the agencies' own bulk files, downloaded with byte-level manifests.
Buyers process the files as independent controllers for their own B2B purposes (legitimate interest; CAN-SPAM, GDPR/UK GDPR, LGPD and the six other laws listed below). We supply a suppression list on request for any named mailbox and honour opt-outs received at [email protected].
Per-country stance
Brazil — LGPD (Lei 13.709/2018)
The files describe legal entities as published by the federal government's open-data programme. Natural-person legal forms are excluded at build time, the partner table is never loaded and CPF-like digit runs are scrubbed. The registered phone and e-mail (Brazil files only) are the entity's filed contact channel; a share of registered e-mails is a named mailbox at the company, for which the buyer is the controller under LGPD art. 7 IX (legitimate interest) and must honour opt-out. A suppression file is available on request.
Mexico — LFPDPPP and INEGI terms
DENUE rows for natural persons are never published; only rows INEGI itself classifies as personas morales (legal entities) are kept, with the public sector removed. Contacts are the establishment's declared business channel. INEGI's free-use terms require the credit, the update date and a notice that the data was transformed, which every row and every page carries.
Chile — Ley 19.628 / Ley 21.719
The SII nómina lists legal persons only; natural persons with a business are not in the source. Forms whose name is by construction a person's name (EIRL and others) are masked. No contact data exists in the source. The RES part is CC BY; the SII part is a transparency publication whose licence confirmation has been requested.
Colombia — Ley 1581/2012 and Decreto 1377/2013
Mercantile-registry data is public data under art. 3 of the decree. Natural persons and legal representatives are never downloaded; empresas unipersonales are masked; the Supersociedades corporate mobile is kept out of every public product. Company e-mail and phone (about 5% of active rows) are company-level fields and stay in the Colombia-only file. Colombian rows are CC BY-SA 4.0 and are delivered as a separate share-alike file.
Peru — Ley 29733
Only RUC-20 legal entities are written; the 12.5 million RUC-10/15/17 natural-person rows are dropped in the first pass. EIRL names are masked. There is no contact data in the source.
Argentina — Ley 25.326
The Registro Nacional de Sociedades lists legal persons; probate estates are dropped, S.A.U. and Sección IV partnerships named after their partners are masked. The fiscal domicile is the company's. No contact data exists in the source.
Ecuador — LOPDP (2021)
Natural persons (7.7 million establishment rows) are dropped and never written. E.U.R.L., estates and 'Y OTROS' partnerships are masked. The catastro publishes no street address or contact; location is province, canton and parish.
Licensing of LatSouth files
Licence of a LatSouth file. Internal use by the purchasing company: CRM, analysis, outbound, segmentation and internal products that use the data without exposing the rows. Contractors working on your behalf may use it under your licence. Resale, republication, bundling into another data product or sharing with other companies is not permitted without a reseller agreement.
Colombia is the exception. Its sources are CC BY-SA 4.0, so every Colombian row and anything derived from it is share-alike. We deliver Colombia as a separate file with the licence notice; you may share it onward under CC BY-SA 4.0 and we do not restrict that. What you pay for is the cleaning, harmonisation, monthly refresh and support.
Attribution. Every row carries source and source_license. If you publish aggregates or excerpts, keep the credit of the countries involved (blocks below). LatSouth is not affiliated with and not endorsed by any of these agencies.
Open items, stated plainly. The SII (Chile) and the Padrón Reducido (Peru) have no declared licence; written confirmation has been requested, and the affected columns are flagged per row so a buyer who needs a strictly licensed file can drop them.
