Financial services companies in Azuay, Ecuador

The SRI Catastro RUC lists 575 financial services companies (banks, credit, fintech, insurance and brokers) in Azuay, of which 410 are active. With 2.6% of Ecuador's section K records, Azuay is the 3rd largest of the country's 24 provinces for this sector (extraction 2026-10-01). The sector is under-represented here: 2.0% of Azuay's records against 3.9% nationally (location quotient 0.51).

Cuenca concentrates 95.1% of the active companies, followed by Gualaceo (11) and Paute (2); the three together hold 98.3%. The median active company is 5.1 years old; 17% were registered in the last year and 36% in the last three. In the 12 months to September 2026, 70 new financial services businesses were registered in Azuay, +159.3% on the previous 12 months (national section K: +30.6%).
